How to use it
- 1Choose who is asking: an employee writing to the employer, a student to the college or school, or a tenant to the landlord. Then choose what you need the NOC for, or write it in your own words.
- 2Enter your name and the details that connect you to them: your designation and employee ID, your course and roll number, or the address you rent. What you type stays in your browser, on your device.
- 3Fill in whom the letter goes to. Left empty, an employee's letter goes to 'The HR Manager' and a student's to 'The Principal'.
- 4Add the details of the purpose, such as the country and dates of a visa trip or the organisation and dates of an internship. If the office you are applying to wants the NOC addressed to it, say so, and give the date you need it by.
- 5Check the preview, press Download PDF / Print, sign it and hand it in. Press Word (.docx) if you want to change the wording.

What the application says
- Who you are to them: your designation, department, employee ID and how long you have worked there; your course, year and roll number; or the address you rent and since when
- What the NOC is for, in one line: a passport, a visa and the dates of the trip, higher studies, a job application, an internship, a gas or electricity connection, registering a business at the address, or address proof
- Whom the certificate should be addressed to, if the office you are applying to wants it addressed to them
- The date you need it by
- Your signature, with a phone number or email so they can reach you
One request, one purpose
Ask for one certificate for one purpose, and name it. A certificate that says “no objection to anything” is worth little, which is why careful employers and landlords will not issue one. The more exactly you say what the NOC is for, the quicker it comes back in a form the other office accepts. The certificate’s own wording follows the same rule: see keep it to one purpose.
Give them time
Ask a few working days before you need the certificate, and say the date in the application. An employer may need to check your record, and an HR team or a principal’s office handles these alongside everything else. Keep a copy of the application, or ask them to sign a copy as received.

Questions people ask
What is an application for NOC?
A short letter asking someone to issue you a no objection certificate: your employer, your college or school, or your landlord. It says who you are, what you need the certificate for and by when. Putting the request in writing gives the other side everything they need to word the certificate, and gives you a dated copy of what you asked for.
Whom should I address it to?
An employee usually writes to the HR manager, or in a small business to the owner or their own manager. A student writes to the principal or the head of the department. A tenant writes to the landlord by name. If the office you are applying to wants the NOC addressed to it, such as a passport office, an embassy or a university, the application says so, so that the certificate comes back the way that office needs it.
What should an NOC application include?
Your name and how you are connected to them (your designation and employee ID, your course and roll number, or the address you rent), what you need the NOC for, whom it should be addressed to, the date you need it by, and your signature with a phone number or email. The format prints each of these in its place.
Is an NOC compulsory for a passport, a visa or a new job?
That is decided by the office you are applying to, not by this letter, and it varies: a government employee's position is not the same as a private employee's. For a passport, a private-sector employee generally needs no employer NOC at all: the passport NOC, Annexure G, is a form for government employees (see When You Need an NOC). Check the office's own checklist first. This application asks for a certificate to submit with your application; it does not say that one is required.
Can I write the application in Hindi?
Yes. Switch Document language to हिंदी above the preview. The letter takes the layout Hindi applications use: सेवा में, the subject line, सविनय निवेदन है कि…, and धन्यवाद सहित, भवदीय. Anything you type yourself, such as your designation or the company's name, prints exactly as you type it.
Can I download it in Word?
Yes. Press Word (.docx) above the preview. The file is laid out like the PDF and every word can be edited. It is an ordinary .docx file, the format used by Microsoft Word, Google Docs, WPS Office and LibreOffice.
Is there a blank format to fill in by hand?
Yes. Press 'Blank format', or use the blank PDF and Word files linked at the top of this page. The blank is an employee's application, with the purpose left as a line to write on.
Can my employer or landlord make the NOC itself here?
Yes. The NOC format words the certificate itself, from an employer, a landlord or a vehicle owner. A business registering for GST at premises someone else owns needs the owner's consent letter: that is the NOC for GST registration.
