Most people want the PDF. It is finished, it prints, and nothing moves.
Sometimes that is the wrong file. You want to change a sentence in a letter, add a clause your company always includes, hand a sheet to an accountant who will change the figures, or keep an editable copy for next month. That is what the Word and Excel buttons above the preview are for.
What has which
Word (.docx) — 16 of the 17 documents. Everything except the UPI QR poster.
Excel (.xlsx) — 6. The five priced trade documents — GST invoice, quotation, proforma invoice, purchase order, delivery challan — and the salary slip.
The rule is simple: if figures get recalculated, there is an Excel version. If it is a letter or a certificate, Word is the editable format and Excel would make no sense.
What the Excel file actually is
Not a picture of the document. A working sheet.
The line amounts, the GST split, the round-off, the totals and the amount in words are live formulas. Change a quantity and everything below it updates, with the same per-half rounding the PDF uses, so the two never disagree.
That matters when you hand the file to someone else. An accountant who changes a rate gets a correct total, not a stale one they have to notice.
It opens in Excel, Google Sheets, LibreOffice and WPS. Some limits were worked around specifically to keep that true — formulas stay under the length caps, and the number formats avoid the ones that render differently across apps.
What the Word file actually is
A real document, not an image. Every word, figure and table cell is editable, and the tables are proper Word tables rather than pictures of tables.
So you can add a clause to an appointment letter, change a sentence in a relieving letter, or drop your own paragraph into a salary certificate — and it still looks like the original because the styles came with it.
Download it blank and use it as a template
This is the part most people miss. Press Word with an empty form and you get the format blank — every heading in place, every label present, room to type, and nothing filled in.
That is a genuine template. Save it once, reuse it forever, fill it in Word if you would rather not use a browser at all. Same for Excel: a blank priced sheet with the formulas already wired, so you type quantities and rates and it does the tax.
Two things not to break
The serial number series. If you reuse a downloaded invoice as a template, change the number. Two invoices with the same number is a real problem, not a cosmetic one.
The formula cells in Excel. Typing a figure over a formula silently turns a live sheet into a dead one. Change the inputs — quantity, rate, tax rate — and let the rest calculate.
Where the files are made
In your browser, on your device. Nothing is uploaded to make them, which is also why they appear instantly and why we cannot see what you put in them.
The trade-off is that the code to build them is fetched when you press the button rather than on every page load — so the first press takes a moment, and the page stays light for everyone who only wants the PDF.
